ARISTOTLE distinguishes between three kinds of friends:
i) business friends:
E.g. Gena buys her scone and coffee at the same corner bakery each day and gets to know the owner.ii) pleasure friends
e.g. Fred always goes fishing with Ralph.iii) companion friends
These may be instances of friendship rather than relations of convenience (the kind of relation I have with the guy who sells my garden supplies, or repairs my car).quoted from: http://www.sfu.ca/~etiffany/teaching/phil120/Arist_friends_120.htmlThe marks of friendship:
==========================================
so basically...
Aristotle believes that there are 3 points, satisfying one of which will mark a friendship (might not be a sincere or true one, but still a friendship)
1. a friend must care about you
2. a friend must be a pleasant company to be in
3. a friend must be useful to you
which i feel the 3rd point is v true...
i seriously feel i'm too used by too many ppl...
hahaha!
n so the questions:
"you're taken for granted, so do you regard them as friendship?"
yes and no...
sumtimes, i'm happy tat i'm "useful" tat i can help my frenz when they're in need of them?
bt sumtimes i feel i dun get back enuff satisfaction aft helpin them?
"friendship is more like a two way thing; you give and you take. you're always giving, and your friend is always at the receiving end, how would you feel?"
feel used sumtimes...
when they nid to noe sumting, they'll come runnin to mi...
when i ask sumting of them.. i wun be surprised if i dun get it?
conclusion:
if i'm there when u nid mi..
then will u be there when i nid u?
